I've slept 10 hours in the last 5 days and my work schedule yesterday, today, and tomorrow is/was as follows:
xmas eve: 6-12pm
today: 12p-12am
tomorrow 8am-4pm
im already exhausted 1/3 the way through my shift today
on a completely seperate note: every year around this time I become utterly fascinated with any and all sorts of religion and read about the most random shit |

I just saw the stage performance of The Lion King. Excellent. It's the second time I've ever seen an actual professional stage performance of anything (well, in person) and damn those things can be incredible.
I worked out how much it would be for me to live on my own (2br apt. with a roommate (sesshomaru1 yea im gonna room with someone from The Internet)) and it came out to be quite feasible. I could do it on what I make now, which is really good considering I work <12 hours a week. Once I go full time, I'll be mad solid.
The only real thing holding me back right now is car insurance. Jesus Christ that shit is expensive. I also need a car, but I have months to save up for a Piece Of Shit v2 (for those of you who remember my 92 Sable, fuck yeah.)
Other than that, I should be ok. Working in a hospital full time will be Hella Benefits (PTO, health, dental, all that good stuff) so I should be golden. Life is on an upwards slant, folks. |

I picked up "The Road" which is supposed to be really good what with the Pulitzer and upcoming movie which is supposed to be really good and bla bla
I also picked up an Ian McEwan book I know nothing about called "Saturday" but since McEwan and McCarthy are right next to each other I saw it and was like "oh hey" so yeah

Today was pretty neat.
I had my laser surgery consult today with my opthamologist, and I'm all set. One thing he said though is that I should get PRK (photorefractive keratectomy! words!) done instead of LASEK. Apparently it's a lot safer and takes the very small chance of corneal ata-some fucking word I can't remember but he said it requires a corneal transplant to zero. The only difference is the healing process is longer so I won't wake up and be like "wow wat!!"
The last hoop I have to jump through is getting an ocular topohraphy done with the laser surgeon people which will get done either this week or next, and then I have the green light!
The cool thing is all of this is free because my moms medical savings (that she has to use this year or she'll lose it) is at like $5,000. DAYUMN

I played World of Warcraft for possibly 12 hours straight today. Reishiro and I are doing the recruit a friend shit. We started last Monday, we'll be hitting Outlands later today. Jeez.

Someone thought that it would be a funny idea to set my alarm to 4AM instead of 8AM. Given my weekend, I wasn't entirely too happy about it. Compounding this was the fact that I kept waking up at random intervals from 12-7AM - usually about 45-60 minutes apart, where it generally took me 15 minutes to get back asleep. Just when I start getting back on track with sleep, too. What a bitch. Hopefully it's aight tonight.
I don't really know how I functioned today. I got up around 8 30 and said "fuck it, I'm going to chem and calling it a day", and that's basically exactly what I did. I wanted to take a nice long power nap, but people kept bugging me with shit (HEY THOMAS LETS GO EAT BRAH HEY THOMAS LETS GO LIFT BRAH) and, for some reason, those options were a lot more enticing to me than sleep. How I got through a relatively vigorous day at the gym is beyond me -- I'm pretty much decimated now.
I also have the self-discipline of a 10 year old. Let's see here: 3 lab reports, math homework, and a research paper I'm going to have to be starting that I should have started last week. What did I do instead? Well, it definitely wasn't all the aforementioned shit, that's for sure. My motivation is slowly waning and I need to find a way to get it back, and that is going to be one hell of an uphill battle. Nerd galaxy.
A nagging question that I've been trying to figure out is how the hell do I go from a dean's list student (3.8 cumulative GPA last year) drudging through classes that I did not give half of a shit about to trying to fail out of school taking classes towards something that I know I want to do with the rest of my life? I've never felt too dumb for anything in my whole life, but this is making life a bit too difficult.

edit: also what the christ apparently i redid my ljs color scheme last night although i do not remember it and it is not as terrible as i would have guessed it would be based on being wasted and sick ?_? |

Well, it finally caught up to me. I can't say I finished my fifth - or even came close, for that matter - but that's probably a good thing. Tonight quickly spiraled downward into a convoluted mess of throwing up, emo bullshit, and chainsmoking. Tomorrow is going to be hell on Earth, and I can't wait for the power nap I am destined to take.
Still, Drunk Weekend was a pretty solid success. Can't say I'm going to be doing another one any time soon, though. My head might still be blowing up for another week. |
